The Society for Innovation, Development and Medical Education – SideMED, under the supervision of the “George Emil Palade” University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Sciences and Technology of Târgu Mureș, organizes the sixth English edition of the workshop Basic Surgical Techniques.

The workshop tries to have a step-by-step approach to the most efficient method for understanding the basic principles in surgery, which can then be applied in future advanced workshops in the field.

Who is the target audience of the event?   
Students who first get in touch with surgical techniques and try to understand theoretical notions and practical procedures essential to surgery. 

How is the workshop carried out?
Following the theoretical presentations, every two participants benefit from the help of one trainer who is in charge of explaining the notions and clearing up any and all insufficiently clear information; subsequent to that, the trainer will explain the practical procedures in a step-by-step manner, until they are understood and successfully executed by the participant.

How long does the event last?
Two days, with the splitting of the subjects in such a way that all participants are permitted to go through everything in a relaxed manner, and tailored to the studying rhythm of each individual.

How do you know if you have been accepted?
The email received following the sending of the form only confirms that we have received your registration; the confirmation of acceptance to the event will be done a few days later, via a phone call, by one of the coordinators of the event, who will also deliver all relevant information regarding the location, the starting hour and payment.

o Types of Sutures used in Surgery

Please note that, due to the epidemiological situation, available places are limited. Hence, priority will be given to the following students:

  • previously rejected
  • first registered
  • in descending order of year of study
  • who consider becoming SideMED Trainers (temporary criteria due to current recruitment period)

Registration will automatically close once 150 % capacity has been reached or 3 days prior to the event start date.
